We are disappointed to announce that, following direction from the WYSA Board of Directors announced April 30, we will be cancelling our spring and summer seasons. While we wish there was a better option, we understand that the decision was made with the health and safety of players, families, spectators, coaches and officials as the primary concern.
The decision was not made lightly, but after carefully monitoring and following guidance from national, state and county government and public service organizations, along with a better understanding of the details of the Badger Bounce Back Plan, it is clear that returning to play on June 1 is not a realistic goal.
League games and other competitions at the District, State, Regional and National levels have all been canceled for the remainder of the 2019-2020 registration year (August 1-July 30).
Here is what this means for our club players, as of April 30, 2020:
Refunds will vary, based on the program. All refunds will be issued via the method that you used to pay for the season, minus a processing fee (which also varies, based on program), and any other outstanding fees (including car-wash cards). Please allow up to 6 weeks for all refunds to be processed.
During registration, families were asked to consider how they would volunteer for the year or chose not to volunteer, but all families were asked to pay a $50 per player buyout, which was then refunded to those who chose to volunteer. If you selected "yes" during the registration process and told us how you were going to volunteer, you will receive a $50 refund, as though you have served those volunteer hours. Those who selected "no" to volunteering will not receive a refund.
Instead of a refund, you can choose to donate your registration payment to the club to help offset the losses of the canceled season and tournament. Should you choose to do this, please contact Mandy Fleege by Friday, May 8.
For scholarship families who have not yet completed volunteer hours for the 2019-2020 soccer year, it will not be factored in if you need to apply for a scholarship for the 2020-2021 soccer year.
Please note that if you had to cancel a credit card that you used for registration, you will need to contact our Club's Administrator, Mandy Fleege, to receive your refund, and we will need to issue your refund via check.
2020-2021 Tryout Policy
Tryout dates have been pushed back, and the first date for tryouts for ages U11-U19 is July 13, 2020; uniform offer date for all ages, U11-U19 will be July 21, 2020 at noon. As more information becomes available about specific tryout dates and times for Neenah Soccer Club Teams, that information will be shared on our website and social media pages. Should traditional tryouts still not be available by that time, modification to tryout formats will be taken into consideration.
Summer League Opportunity
Should return to play be possible this summer, during times that do not interfere with Fall 2020 activities, we will work with WYSA and East Central to participate in this play. There will be no cost to families for these opportunities.
Additional Training Opportunities
As soon as the guidelines set forth by the Badger Bounce Back plan allow, Neenah Soccer Club will provide training opportunities for all players. As these opportunities become available, we will release that information to all players who were/are registered or the 2019-2020 season. Players can also tune into our Core Technical Training Series videos for additional training ideas, tips and tricks.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your understanding, patience and dedication to Neenah Soccer Club during the circumstances the world has presented.
We truly hope to see all of you back on the pitch - as soon as we can all be there together safely. If you have any questions or concerns about anything stated here, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Enjoy the great weekend ahead. Keep getting touches on the ball, and keep working hard.
Neenah Soccer Club President
