Summer 2020 Training

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through what our new practice schedule will look like during Phase I of US Soccer’s Play On.

We are excited to have our players back out on the fields, and we would love to have all of our players participate in the weeks ahead, however, we understand that every family has different comfort levels, situations and needs. Please know that these training sessions are completely optional. No player will be punished in any way for not attending.

These practice sessions will serve as opportunities for players to refresh their skills and run through some non-contact drills in preparation for tryouts and fall seasons. We will follow the protocols and recommendations of Section V & VI of the US Soccer Play On Phase 1 Grassroots Soccer Recommendation Guide, and will do everything we can to keep all of our players and coaches safe as we return to the field.

If you have any questions about the safety of your player as he/she returns to the field after reading this message, please contact Mike Jones, NSC President.

Prior to 1st Practice

  • Please fill out your player’s availability as soon as it becomes available in TeamSnap, so that our coaches may properly prepare for the number of players that will be present at practice.
  • Please fill out the Communicable Disease Waiver. You may have already filled this out when signing your player up for tryouts, however, you must fill this out again prior to your player practicing.
    1. Log into your family account in Demosphere.
    2. Select the player for whom you wish to complete the form. Note: You must complete one for each child practicing.
    3. Select Communicable Disease Waiver in the drop down box.
    4. Proceed through the registration process. Please be sure to check-out completely.

Prior to Each Practice

By coming to practice prepared, we can better safeguard our players from potential health concerns. Please do your part to keep all players safe by evaluating your child prior to sending them to practice.

  • Players should arrive to practice completely dressed and ready to play.
    • Players are asked NOT to bring their own soccer balls to practice. They may bring their bags, and will be asked to place them, away from other player bags, in the marked location. Players will need their own shoes, shin guards and water bottles, but are asked to keep other personal items to a minimum.
    • Please have your player run through a warm-up before you come to practice. (Tell them to run through our traditional warm-up from practices and games.) Due to the limited practice time, we will not be running through a full warm-up.
    • Make sure your player has enough water for the entire practice. Sharing of water bottles will not be permitted.
  • Conduct a temperature check to ensure your player has a temperature under 100.4°F.

Note: Any individual who has been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 14 days may not come to practice, and is recommended to quarantine at home for 14 days. Please do not come to practice if you are not feeling well or have experienced any of the symptoms of COVID-19 infection. Additionally, if you have traveled outside the state of Wisconsin, we ask that, upon return, you do not come to practice sessions for 14 days during the recommended at-home quarantine time.

Health and Safety Procedures at Practice

Neenah Soccer Club will follow all guidelines laid out in Section V of the US Soccer Play On Phase 1 Grassroots Soccer Recommendation Guide

Parents will not be permitted on the practice fields.

Please send only your player to the practice location to check in with the present Safety Officer near the practice field location, at their scheduled check-in time.

Players will be asked to return to their cars should they arrive early. Any player arriving 5 minutes or more after their check-in time will not be permitted to practice. This strict policy allows us to make sure that an appropriate and thorough check-in is performed for each player, and allows our coaches to concentrate on practice and player safety. Please be on time and prepared to play.

Additionally:

  • Please be ready to let the staff member know your name (for attendance purposes) and be prepared to answer the following questions, aligned with the CDC’s Coronavirus self-checker
    • Have you, in the past two weeks, have contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19?
    • Are you feeling ill?
    • Do you have any of these symptoms:
      • Chest Pain or pressure
      • Difficulty breathing
      • Dizziness or lightheadedness
      • Fever
      • Cough
      • Fatigue
      • Muscle or body aches
      • Headache
      • New loss of taste or smell
      • Sore throat
      • Congestion or runny nose
      • Nausea or vomiting
      • Diarrhea

During practice sessions, groups will be divided by age and will train for one hour. Players will be in groups of 9 or less with 1 coach, who will be wearing a mask during the practice. Players will not be required to wear masks, but they are permitted should they prefer or choose to wear one.

Players should NOT touch any of the items/materials on the field (cones, flags, goals). Club soccer balls will be used during practice, and will be sanitized between sessions to limit player exposure to other people’s equipment and to each other.

Hand sanitizer will be available for players at all times, and use will be encouraged during water breaks, prior to allowing players to handle their personal items.

Post-Practice Procedures

Please be on time picking up your players. We have spaced practice sessions to minimize contact between session participants, however, in order to do this, we need parents to cooperate with posted arrival and practice times. Thank you for your strict adherence to this.

We recommend all players clean/disinfect and properly store cleats, shin guards and any other personal gear used, and upon arrival at home, wash hands immediately, bathe and launder/clean any items used during practice.

Should your player become ill at any time after a practice or during these weeks of Phase I practice, please contact your child’s coach immediately, so that we can assess the safety of other players and that group’s return to practice.

Conclusion

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the next several weeks. Should you have any questions about the work done at practice, please don’t hesitate to contact Neenah Soccer Club’s Director of Coaching, Cesar Rizzo.

We look forward to seeing your players back on the field in the weeks ahead!
